22 weeks

Some random thoughts before we get into her development this week:
  • I don't have a pic of the furniture but will post soon. So thankful to my parents for buying it.
  • 18 weeks seems like it will fly by and I feel like there is so much to do and think about.
  • I am pretty sure I felt my little sweet pea moving around this morning too.
  • I really like the name Lyla, and I like it with Lanham.
  • Feeling her move is the best, most comforting feeling, sometimes my stomach makes weird noises
  • Been feeling a little scared lately
  • Bought her some hangers and a few pieces of clothes, one newborn outfit
This week she is the size of a papaya, I remember when she was the size of a coffee bean. I am feeling a little emotional today (ok, a lot). She weighs almost a pound, I can't believe it. She still has a lot of growing to do over the next 18 weeks.

Our little munchkin is sleeping around 12-14 hours a day (lucky girl)! She has little nails as well. Now to me, pregnancy (besides the baby part) is not fun. My stomach is growing huge, my belly button is about to pop out, my butt looks gross, my hair is a frizzy mess, nothing looks cute, especially heels and I am losing my breath when I walk up stairs or more than 5 feet (don't worry I hear this is normal). I don't even think that covers it all. This is a pic from last week; I am pretty sure I have packed on some lbs since then too.

Shopping night!

Going to get Baby Lanham's furniture tonight! I am so excited! My mom and I went last weekend, and Doug is going tonight to help make the final decision & the purchase ;)

Now, I need to start thinking about how we are going to decorate the little princess's room! I will post pictures of what we pick out tonight or tomorrow. I can't decide if I want white or a dark brown..hmmmmm

21 weeks & 5 days!

Ok, so I am few days late on the 21 weeks mark.....Our little sweet pea is the size of a banana & weighs between 12-13 oz. By the end of this week she will weigh a whole pound & will be packing on the lbs (actually more like ozs) the next 5 weeks

Also, she is becoming a little dreamer, REM sleep begins this week. Sidenote: I want to do her room in a dream/starry theme - Lyss came up with the idea while we are on vacation to sing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and it has stuck. So, if you are bored & want to surf the net for girly, yellow white shabby chic nursery bedding & accessories - go for it :)

I haven't really felt her move a lot this week which gives me tons of anxiety.

Baby Sophia: Please move for Mommy, it makes my days so much brighter & eases my stress. Love you!

Puppy Love

It's no secret I love my little Kelso baby. Essentially, he has taught me more about love maybe than most people that have been in my life. Sounds crazy or weird, huh. Well, I remember 6 years ago when he got hit by a car & I used every single dime I had to pay for his medical bills. Lots of people criticized me for this & told me not to do it, "that's too much money to spend on a dog." It was around $2,300 (clearly, I wasn't rolling in the dough).

And, I can tell you now & I would have told you the day after writing that $2,300 check that there has been nothing in this world that I would have rather spent the money on or anything that would have brought me more happiness or love than him. He depends on me every day to make sure he is taken care of, he is always there to kiss me when I am sad, he is the best snuggle bug, he has sat by me all day when I am sick, he has been through all my changes & adapted with me - ultimately, he makes me feel loved and special & he has done it consistently for 11 years. I can say that about very few people.

Honestly, I can't even remember what my life felt like without him a part of it and I dread the day when that comes. I only hope he doesn't feel ignored or not loved anymore when the baby comes. Kelso is a part of our family and just like we need to prepare for the birth, maybe I need to make sure he is prepared in some way too.

I think dogs are the most amazing creatures; they give unconditional love.  For me they are the role model for being alive.  ~Gilda Radner

My Life!

"In toy stores across America, shelves are stocked with brainy baby products that claim to boost a child's intelligence. For parents, they are hard to resist: "I'm a sucker for this stuff," admits Susan Stein."

I am a huge sucker for this! Anytime I see an article about brain stimulation, make your baby smart - I am reading away. I have actual anxiety about picking out the right toys for my little girl to play with as an infant.

Name Game!

Nick has already decided her name will be Sophia, he won't even listen to any other name.....I think it's too early to decide and I am not completely sold. Sophia is pretty, means wisdom.

Picking a name is a huge decision, and then the middle name...geez! Of course, we were on perfect agreement for a boy's name. Next time ;)

These are names I liked from the baby names book (notice I put Sophia in there):

Hayden
Whitney
Avery
Kinley
Kennedy
Lyla
Isabella
Sophia
Brooklyn
Audrina
Aviana
Annalise
Nadia

Almost forgot!

Even though I get sick thinking about it, I found a highly recommended babysitter (watches in her home). She will have an opening in the beginning of the year. Bad news - she lives in Mt. Washington. This is about 15-20 minutes the opposite direction of my work/home - which means, I wouldn't get home til almost 630 most nights :( Having only a few hours a day with my little girl seems terrible.
